This poem was written after watching 5 centimeters per second, a Japanese featured animated film.

If life were fair, it wouldn't leave me behind
but it is not so I just sigh and resign
to the fact that the best may have gone
instead of looking to the things yet to come

If love conquers all, then time and space are insignificant
but we soon see that it passes in an instant
and looking back to the horizon we slowly discover
how far we have gone apart, the distance our steps covered

If only I can go back, I would have risked everything
but all I can do now is to move on and go on seeking
the thing that I lost that may never be found in this life
hoping against despair that one day I will be smile and say "It's alright"
