I'm back

After a long hiatus from writing this blog due to laziness, I am finally trying to write a blog again.

This itch has long been with me since I stop writing in this blog. I can write traditionally on pen and paper but I am not too keen on typing my work again on the computer. After the work that I do everyday(which involves sitting in a comfy chair and staring at the monitor for 8 hours, more or less), I am less inclined to sit down and do another session with the computer.

During the long hiatus, I was progressively getting lazy. With no new stimulation available( the tasks at the office usually involve things that I have done before ), I felt that my mind rotting slowly. Not content with this state of affairs,I browsed a lot of productivity and organizational websites in order to combat this stupor. During this stint, I have observed and read what people do to succeed in their field of interest. I devoured the ideas and information that were readily available. After studying, filtering and analyzing the data, I found some gems of thought that were would make me more efficient and are easily applicable to my work ethic. I finally resolved to put this ideas to use to make my life more productive. The next new paragraphs would be my attempt to state and explain these ideas.

One thought I have learned is that you will never be master of any skill if you don't start now and keep delaying doing things. This is not a novel idea. It is, however, an often forgotten one. That is one of the reasons why I have returned to writing a blog. If I don't start now and get into a disciplined mindset, I will probably never will return to writing blogs. I also have to swallow my ego and be content to write blogs no matter how badly it turns out. "If there is anything worth doing, it is worth doing badly" said G.K. Chesterton. Eventually, I would improve and

Another thing I learned( courtesy of nullpointer.ph) during the long vacation is that blogging is an exercise in writing. "Duh!", you might say. I must apologize to the audience if this seems common sense but I implore you to be patient to this absent minded person who routinely forgets simple truths such as the aforementioned phrase at the beginning of the paragraph. I have to be constantly reminded that indeed, practice makes perfect. And since one of my hobbies is to be storytelling(more on that in another blog post), it would be hitting two birds with one stone, or should say two hobbies with one exercise.

Well, I think for a post about a renewal of this blog to be this long( or short, depending on your point of view), I think that its time to wrap this post. In the next posts, I will be talking about my new found hobbies( and old ones also) and the things that happened during the hiatus.

Have a good day! :D

From .... to Creativity

lost for words, I almost can't think
need to find ideas before I step over the brink
clashing, turning, brainstorming, what a wild ride
days in the office are like this, boring days aside

creativity, the triumph of the mind, people see
don't they wonder otherwise, why I must be?
is it mysterious musings, sudden flashes of inspiration?
no. it is the hardworking one, the cornerstone of circulation

the one scarred by persistent disappointments
self pity or perseverance, it must make a commitment
the other choice, falling into despair, losing all hope
the better choice, rising for the next day, learning to cope

the better choice wins
thats why creativity is seen

Birthday Invitation

by the way, i just want to say
you are all invited, girls and gents included
to a modest gathering in the evening come friday
in my place to celebrate, what else, but a birthday ;D

If

This poem was written after watching 5 centimeters per second, a Japanese featured animated film.

If life were fair, it wouldn't leave me behind
but it is not so I just sigh and resign
to the fact that the best may have gone
instead of looking to the things yet to come

If love conquers all, then time and space are insignificant
but we soon see that it passes in an instant
and looking back to the horizon we slowly discover
how far we have gone apart, the distance our steps covered

If only I can go back, I would have risked everything
but all I can do now is to move on and go on seeking
the thing that I lost that may never be found in this life
hoping against despair that one day I will be smile and say "It's alright"

Interesting endeavors that keep me busy for now

  1. Learn how to use the Valve Hammer Editor to create Counterstrike 1.6 maps. Until now, I have always been in the dark on how to create custom maps for CS. Turned out that a simple google search would lead me to the standard editor of the GoldSrc engine which Half-life (and in effect Counterstrike) uses. I spent all of my college days using the internet for getting information even on the most obscure data and never did the idea entered my head that it could be used to find a Counterstrike map editor ("_)

  2. Learn how to create RPG's using RPG Maker VX ( Technical Aspect). I have always wanted to create RPG's ever since I tried playing my first, Breath of Fire 4. Unfortunately, I am not a good writer and even less of a good artist. So I try to learn in the field where I am good at first, coding.

  3. Learn how to code in ASP.NET. Admittedly, this one is not a hobby. Rather it is a preparation for some project at my job. But I think most programmers would agree with me that learning a new high-level programming is always interesting.
